Why Standard Imaging Matters – and Why PennHIP Matters More
This lecture offers an in-depth look at hip examinations and the importance of accurate imaging and evaluation methods in breeding and long-term skeletal health The session will cover standard hip dysplasia imaging, including positioning, image quality, interpretation and common sources of error that may influence the final result.
The lecture will also introduce the PennHIP method, explaining how the examination is performed, how the results are assessed, and why PennHIP provides a more detailed understanding of hip quality and joint stability than traditional hip evaluations alone.
Finally, the session will focus on how hip examination results can be used responsibly in breeding work to support healthier future generations and improve the overall hip status within the breed.
