Canine body awareness and proprioception
This workshop focuses on training exercises that enhance canine body awareness and proprioception. It introduces fundamental techniques to improve coordination, foot placement, body control, and balance through simple and structured exercises. Participants will learn basic groundwork activities that help dogs develop improved movement patterns, confidence, and physical awareness in a safe and supportive training environment.
The practical training will be carried out using solid, stable targets combined with supportive exercises. These tools create clear structure and safety in the training process while supporting the dog’s development of controlled movement, stability, and body awareness.
During the workshop, three exercises will be introduced. Each exercise is open to five Curlies, allowing a total of 15 dogs to participate in the practical training.
Exercises Include
- Foundation body awareness
- Front feet and rear feet target and elevated front feet target
- Foundation cone work
- Wrap around cones, figure-eight patterns, and heeling on both sides
- Foundation proprioception
- A basic proprioception course walking over solid targets with forward focus
